Speech was quite a worry for me, when I had my first denture fitted; mostly because I hadn't really told anybody, apart from my Mum, that I was having a denture, and it felt like quite a private thing really, particularly as I was then in my 40s, so I took a couple of weeks off work when I first had it fitted, just to give myself a bit of time to practice speaking, just to practice using it and wearing it and eating, and so on. I read my newspaper out loud to myself, obsessively for the first week that I had my denture. And then realised, it was just getting better and better so quickly, and by the time I went back to work, I think my speech was pretty much back to normal. It was much quicker than I expected.
