WHY IS IT IMPORTANT TO USE A DENTURE ADHESIVE?

When wearing dentures, feeling that they are secure in your mouth can increase your confidence when going about your everyday life. Dentures should sit well and feel good in your mouth, but even well-fitted dentures can still have a little slip or give, which is where denture adhesives can help. Here's how they work.

They can help you get back to your favourite foods

Once you’re used to eating with your new dentures, you’ll be ready to re-introduce some of your favourite foods again. Denture adhesive helps form a seal to help prevent food particles getting stuck between your dentures and can help increase bite force* to help with tougher foods.

They can help you find your voice

When your dentures are fitted, you may find some words difficult to pronounce at first. Using denture adhesive can ease your concerns by locking your dentures in place more firmly, keeping you feeling confident in social situations or when getting close with loved ones.

GETTING USED TO THE FIT

An adhesive may help you to adapt to your new dentures and give you more confidence from the outset, easing any worries you may have of it falling out. It creates an additional grip between your gums and dentures to offer extra comfort and stability in every bite and smile.

It’s worth bearing in mind, though, that an adhesive shouldn’t be used as a substitute for a well-fitting denture. Over time, dentures can become loose, and may need repairing or replacing so you might want to speak with your dentist if it’s not fitting as comfortably as it had at first.
